Las Vegas to Secure #1 Spot for Entertainment With Exciting New Construction
New construction broke ground over the past week in Las Vegas. Residents will soon be able to see exciting new development directly on the famous Las Vegas Strip. A new globe-shaped event center has started construction behind the Venetian, and a new NFL stadium is being built as the Raiders, currently playing in Oakland, California, plan their move to the city.
The event center, which will be known as the Madison Square Garden (MSG) Sphere, will feature a 160,000 square foot LED screen and have a seating capacity of 18,000. Construction for the center is predicted to be completed in 2021.
Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval addressed business leaders and politicians about the new event center. According to an article in Las Vegas Sun (https://bit.ly/2xYLmki), Sandoval believes the event center will be the first of its kind. “This truly is the next chapter in the history of the evolution of the entertainment capital of the world,” said Sandoval.
The Las Vegas Raiders’ stadium can finally be seen developing as construction crews began installing vertical steel beams that will make up the exterior wall of the stadium last week. The stadium is being built on a 62 acre site just across Interstate 15 from Mandalay Bay, which is located on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. Crews estimate the stadium’s construction will be complete during the summer of 2020.
The price tag of constructing a new sports stadium is quite costly and justly so. In fact, the cost of the new Raiders’ stadium being built is approximately $1.8 billion dollars, according to an article in the Las Vegas Review Journal (https://bit.ly/2DPR5yd). The stadium’s features include a 10-story domed structure that will let in plenty of light with a plastic roof and retractable windows. The stadium will also have a seating capacity of 65,000.
