hh2 Workshop: Construct a Halloween Door Decoration
Here at hh2 Cloud Services, we love construction! We also love saving our customers time and money. In this article, learn how to construct your own Halloween door decoration with our DIY step-by-step guide. This decoration can be recreated in less than an hour and under $30.
What you’ll need: Brush set(s) (https://bit.ly/2IP4qGc and https://bit.ly/2E79VBa), a black paint pen (https://bit.ly/2ObASrY), Wiggle eyes (https://bit.ly/2PoxWoF), orange ribbon (https://bit.ly/2C3TL9c), acrylic paint (https://bit.ly/2pLEC52) and four wooden squares (https://bit.ly/2RJ9Fey). You will also need a hot glue gun to assemble the decoration. You might also want to have a pencil and eraser handy to sketch the design onto the wood.
Before you begin, you’ll want to ensure you have laid down newspaper or other material to protect the surface you are crafting on. We used sketch paper to make our clean up as easy as possible!
Step 1: Paint the squares
You’ll want to begin by painting your wooden squares. We used the original color of white, black and orange included in our paint kit. To create the green, we mixed the bright green with the mustard yellow to create our desired shade of green for Frankenstein’s monster. Be sure to allow time for the paint to dry before starting on the decorative paint elements, such as the eyes and smiles.
Step 2: Sketch your design with a pencil (optional)
Next, you’ll want to sketch the design with a light hand directly onto the painted wooden square. This step is optional.
Step 3: Use the paint pen to outline your design
After you have sketched the design, you’ll want to outline the eyes, mouth and hairline with a paint marker to ensure clean lines before filling them in with paint.
Step 4: Fill in your desired elements
After you have outlined your designs, you can begin filling in the elements with the paint color of your choosing. Allow plenty of time for these to dry.
Step 5: Glue additional elements
From here, you can use a hot glue gun to place any wiggle eyes you wish to include.
Step 6: Let dry
After your elements have been painted and glued, you’ll want to let them dry completely.
Step 7: Assemble decoration
As soon as your paint and glue have dried, you can attach the ribbon onto the backs on the squares. We attached two strands of ribbon onto the backs of each square with a hot glue gun. We tied twine to the ribbons at the top to create an easy way to hang the decoration!
